Dr Isobel Sewell
Consultant
Isobel is an aquaculture and marine science specialist with expertise in aquatic ecosystem dynamics and applied environmental research. She holds a PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Western Australia, where her research focused on sustainable aquaculture feed innovation using 'future protein' sources.

At Blueshift, Isobel brings a cross-disciplinary perspective to projects spanning blue food systems, circular-economy solutions, ecosystem services, and environmental markets. Her portfolio includes aquaculture R&D with finfish and crustaceans, as well as ecosystem-focused research exploring coral health drivers, fish-coral interactions, and functional biodiversity in tropical marine environments. She excels in multi-stakeholder engagement, facilitating productive collaboration between academia, industry, government, NGOs, and local communities to develop sustainable solutions that balance diverse interests. This comprehensive expertise enables her to support clients in optimising both production efficiency and ecological performance in coastal and marine settings.

Isobel is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the University of Western Australia's Ocean Institute and actively participates in science education and public engagement, bridging the gap between research and practical applications.
