Launched in 2025, the Aquaculture for the Future Farm Business Resilience (FBR) training program is a strategic initiative to build the long-term resilience and capability of Western Australia’s aquaculture businesses through practical, future-focused training. Led by the Aquaculture Council of WA (ACWA), in partnership with the WA Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD), the program was supported by the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund as part of the national Farm Business Resilience Program.

As the program’s training provider, Blueshift designed and delivered three tailored training streams for medium-large, small-medium businesses, and freshwater crayfish aquaculture businesses in WA. Through a combination of in-person and online workshops, 12 training modules were delivered across five core themes: Business Planning, Tax Management, Innovation & Technology, On-Farm Diversification and Personal & Family Management.

To ensure technical accuracy and industry relevance, Blueshift engaged a panel of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), ensuring that participants benefited from current best practices, real-world case studies, and practical tools.

Through this initiative, aquaculture operators gained opportunities to network with peers, enhance their business planning, and access expert training to improve long-term sustainability and resilience in a changing environment.
