Blueshift undertook the first examination of the carbon footprint, or 'finprint', of Australian wild capture fisheries and aquaculture (F&A) sectors and their component seafood production industries. It provided an overview of Australia's largest fisheries by GVP, their catch/production methods, and indication of the emissions scopes and their relative importance. The study comprised three key outputs: 1) energy use and greenhouse gas profile of Australia's F&A sectors 2) a self-assessment tool to calculate energy efficiency and greenhouse gas emissions and 3) a toolbox of examples for emissions reduction opportunities in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors.
