Blueshift developed a 'cradle-to-gate' life cycle assessment framework for Pinctada maxima at Pearls of Australia's Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm. This included a review of all traditional LCA elements (energy, water and land) as well as ocean specific inputs/outputs including consideration of marine land use and biodiversity. The LCA was developed as an industry pilot used to encourage best practices in the pearling industry.
